Small Business Assistance

The Small Business Development Center provides free counseling to small businesses in the area. Areas of assistance are management skills, business information, business planning, productivity improvement, networking assistance, loan application assistance, sources of financing, financial analysis, marketing, and permits/licenses/taxes. The SBDC also conducts periodic workshops. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance offers a variety of assistance. DBA maintains a Business Information Center to help businesses of all sizes find information on items such as selling to the Commonwealth of Virginia, economic trends, financing, taxes, and permits. DBA's Jobs Investment Program  assists small businesses in the manufacturing or distribution sector with hiring and training of workers. Qualified companies can access Workforce Services assistance by creating as few as five new jobs and investing $100,000 of new capital.

The Joint IDA offers a Revolving Loan Fund to assist qualified small businesses with obtaining financing.
